Quick Start Guide

Good news! ZEN smoke alarm bundle packs arrive to you already interconnected – no need to pair them up as we’ve done it for you. Simply switch your alarms on, perform a test, and you’re good to go!

Switching your alarms ON/OFF

Switch ON: Press down the centre of the alarm (test button) for 5 seconds until the red LED lights up, then release.

Switch OFF: Press down the centre of the alarm (test button) for 5 seconds until the red LED blinks twice, then release.

Testing your alarms

  1. Press the test button once on the alarm or the remote control. The alarm red LED will flash and will emit an audible tone ‘BEEP BEEP BEEP’.
  2. If interconnected as a group, all other alarms will do the same.
  3. Alarms will silence automatically after 10 seconds.

Silencing your alarms

  1. To silence an alarm after it has been activiated, press the test/silence button on it (or use the remote control).
  2. If interconnected as a group, all alarms will silence except for the one detecting the issue.
  3. Press the test/silence button a second time and ALL alarms will become silenced.
  4. The audible tone stops and the red LED indicator will flash once every 6 seconds indicating the alarm(s) are now in ‘hush mode’.
  5. Hush mode duration is 10 minutes. After 10 minutes normal smoke alarm operation resumes.
  6. If smoke particles still remain in the air after 10 minutes, the alarm(s) will sound again.

Setting up a new smoke alarm group with a remote control

  1. Quick-press the test button twice on ALL the alarms.
  2. The green LEDs will now flash continuously for 60 seconds, indicating the alarms have all entered the receiving mode. You have a 60 second time window to pair the remote to the alarms.
  3. Press the ‘pair’ button once on the remote control. The red LED on the remote will illuminate for approx. 10 seconds.
  4. If pairing is successful the green LED will stop flashing on all the alarms.
  5. Now press the test button once on the remote to check they are all successfully interconnected.

Setting up a new smoke alarm group without a remote control

  1. Choose one alarm and quick-press the test button on it 4 times.
  2. The green LED will now flash continuously for 60 seconds, indicating it has entered transmitting mode. You have a 60 second time window to pair the other alarms to it.
  3. Quick-press the test button on the other alarms twice. The green LED on the other alarms will flash for a few seconds and then stop, indicating they have been successfully paired.
  4. After 60 seconds has passed, press the test button once on any alarm to check they are all successfully interconnected.
